SAM Wood will make a decision on his future later this month – with AFC Wimbledon leading the chase for his signature.

The former Brentford star is a free agent after being shown the door at the end of the season following four seasons at Griffin Park.

Dons boss Terry Brown is interested in bringing the 25-year-old to Kingsmeadow, as exclusively revealed by the Chronicle , after the departures of Chris Bush and Gareth Gwillim.

However, Wood will weigh up his options on holiday next week before deciding where his future lies.

He said: “I've heard of Wimbledon's interest and I'm going to go away and think things over.

“When I get back I'll sit down for talks and make a decision on my future.”

Wood spent much of last campaign on loan at Rotherham United, but snubbed the chance of a permanent move to the Millers.

He scored the winning goal against the Dons at the Don Valley Stadium back in December before starting at left-back for the return game at Kingsmeadow on Good Friday.
