THE man who got Dons out of jail on the last day of last season admits he’s ‘disappointed’ with his current part-time role.

Jack Midson (pic) has been something of a fixture in the AFC starting eleven over the last two seasons, but has been forced to share striking duties with Charlie Sheringham over this campaign’s first four league games.

Midson hopes that by coming on to make a difference in the 3-2 win over Scunthorpe it will be his name manager Neal Ardley inks in for a start at home to Fleetwood next Saturday.

The 29-year-old has a special reason to get among the Cod army.

It was his 72 nd minute penalty that hooked AFC out of the relegation places to herald delirious at scenes on the final day of 2012-13.

He said: “I’ve got a good memory of that, and the first game I ever saw Dons play was against Fleetwood in the 2011 semi-final play off when I was at Oxford – so hopefully that’s a good omen.

“It has been hard to come off the bench – but against Scunthorpe I thought I came on and made an impact.

“I channel that disappointment into something positive. When the manager tells me I’m not playing I take that on the chin, and I never take it for granted I’ll start, but things can soon change.”
