ROSS Worner and Ashley Bayes have signed for AFC Wimbledon this week as manager Neal Ardley looks to find a solution to last season’s goalkeeping problems.

Former Charlton Athletic and Aldershot shot-stopper Worner (pictured) and much-travelled veteran Bayes will both be on the books at Kingsmeadow next term, although Bayes will primarily be deployed in a coaching role.

Finding a regular number one proved difficult for Ardley last season.

Seb Brown was shipped out on loan to Woking after falling down the pecking order and his replacement, Neal Sullivan, made a decent impact before being recalled from his loan spell by Doncaster Rovers.

Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz was recruited by axed boss Terry Brown last summer to act as cover for a first-choice keeper and spent the majority of the season on the bench. He has since been released by Ardley.

Wimbledon ended the campaign with John Sullivan between the sticks and Ardley had been keen to keep him for the forthcoming season, however the ex-Addicks star penned a two-year contract with Portsmouth.

Bayes, who was unveiled by the Dons yesterday, recommended 23-year-old Worner for the vacant number one shirt after being impressed while working alongside him at Aldershot last year.

Brown is still under contract at Kingsmeadow and is due to report back for the start of pre-season training on Monday, when he will try to convince the club he still has plenty to offer as a League Two player.
