Dons land Brentford defender

AFC Wimbledon have completed the loan signing of Brentford defender Pim Balkestein.

AFC Wimbledon have completed the loan signing of Brentford defender Pim Balkestein .

We exclusively revealed on Wednesday that the Dons had made an enquiry for the 24-year-old Dutchman.

Dons boss Terry Brown has been desperate to bolster his backline which has leaked 62 goals in just 34 games this season.

But Brown hopes the centre-back, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Rochdale, will plug the hole in their defence as they bid to avoid a League Two survival scrap.

Balkestein has joined on an initial one-month deal, and is expected to go straight into the side for tomorrow's crunch clash with Dagenham.
