AFC Wimbledon skipper Mat Mitchel-King is in line to return to the squad for Saturday's showdown with Exeter City.

The Dons defender missed last weekend's defeat at Bristol Rovers with a back problem, a loss which leaves them just two points and two places above the League Two drop zone with three games to go.

But boss Neal Ardley is hopeful the former Crewe centre-back will be ready in time to face the Grecians.

He said: “Mat has a history of back problems, so we decided not to risk him for the Bristol Rovers game.

“Had we played him there's a chance he could've missed the rest of the season.

“He needed a couple more days to recover and that decision seems to have paid dividends.

“He's done some work with the physio this week and hopefully he will be able to train with us on Thursday ahead of the weekend.”
