MAT Mitchel-King admits he's desperate to get one over on his former club Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.

The Dons defender spent two seasons with the Alex, making more than 50 appearances, and returns to Gresty Road for the first time since leaving the club for Kingsmeadow in the summer.

And the 28-year-old says there's an added incentive to upset his old team-mates.

He said: “I've never gone back to an old club, so it's going to be new to me.

“I didn't set the world alight there but I was well-liked so I'm sure my reception will be fine. I didn't leave on bad terms.

“But there's definitely an added incentive for me. Anyone who says there isn't would be lying. I would love to go there and nick a 1-0 win in the last minute.”

The Dons chalked up their first clean sheet for four months in Tuesday night's goalless draw at Cheltenham.

And Mitchel-King reckons the hard work on the training ground is beginning to pay off.

He added: “It's nice to get a clean sheet finally and hopefully we can build from that defensively. It's an improvement and a step forward.

“We've conceded a couple of goals recently which were unfortunate, and they were difficult to swallow.

“This is a good building block for us, so hopefully we can continue keeping it tight at the back and get the goals flowing again.”
