PIM Balkestein is on his way to hospital with a suspected broken toe - and AFC boss Terry Brown reckons it could be over and out for the on-loan central defender.

Balkestein (pic) got caught in a first half Dons dominated against Burton during the 4-0 win. And Brown would be only too willing to open talks with the player to make his switch permanent from Brentford in the summer.

"The trouble is I'm not sure we could afford him," said the manager. "But we brought Pim in to do a job, and he did just that.

"His headers combined with a great left foot has just about got us over the line towards our 50-point goal.

"If he fancied it we would welcome him back with open arms."

George Moncur won man of the match after a commanding show in midfield to go with a first goal in senior football, although Brown would have snatched the award out his hands and given it to defender Mat Mitchel-King given half the chance.

The manager added: "Because of Pim's injury, Mat had to put in a hell of a lot of work in the second half. And although we finally ran out good winners, they were always asking questions of us.

"It needed Mat and Pim in particular to make sure we held on to a deserved lead."
