NEAL Ardley has backed keeper Ross Worner to recover from his shaky start in an AFC Wimbledon shirt and become a fans' favourite at Kingsmeadow.

The former Aldershot Town shot-stopper endured a night to forget in the pre-season friendly draw against Charlton, gifting Danny Green the opener after another poor clearance.

However, boss Ardley insists the 23-year-old will bounce back.

He said: “It was his first game and he wanted to impress, but I don't think the players helped him.

“There were a few who passed it back to his weaker right foot and he got a little bit nervous.

“He tried to calm himself down and be brave like I asked him too. There were a few loose kicks after that but that's just nerves.

“He's a good goalie, having seen him in training. I've got no worries about that. He'll be a fans favourite within a month.”
