KEVIN O'Connor believes there is more to come from Clayton Donaldson following the Brentford striker's stunning equaliser in Saturday's heated 1-1 draw at Notts County.

Donaldson was about 35 yards out near the left touchline when he received the ball just moments into the second half, before sending a sweet half-volley over the head of former Bees keeper Stuart Nelson and into the far top corner.

And O'Connor believes it was no more than the hard-working former Crewe frontman, who often ploughs a lone furrow up front away from home, deserves.

He said: “Clayton works really hard for the team and doesn't always get the goals his toil deserves, so that was a nice moment for him.

“It was a great strike and it came at just the right time for us. The way Clayton has been playing, with a bit more support, he'll go on and get a few more like that, as he was for Crewe last year.”
