CHELSEA'S assistant boss says he cannot envisage Frank Lampard leaving the club for anyone, let alone Manchester United.

Some newspaper reports carried speculation that Lampard is the subject of a £10m bid from United – a story rubbished by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Roberto Di Matteo – Andre Villas-Boas' right hand man – has gone a stage further by saying he believes the midfielder could see out his career at Stamford Bridge.

“I can't really see him leaving this club, “ Di Matteo said.

“He's been here, I think, 10 years and he's part of the successful history of this club. I don't know what the future will hold, but at the moment, I can't see him going anywhere. He's part of our plans and he'll be very important for us.

“We are very happy that Frank is in our team, because he's a fantastic player and he's been a fantastic player, season after season, for many many years for this club and for his country.”

The Blues coach added: “I'm not surprised that other managers like him and it's not unsettling for us. I think he's old enough to deal with these kind of stories.”
