SHAUN DERRY'S masterclass in the arts of a holding midfielder earned rightful praise from Neil Warnock after Saturday's 2-1 derby win over Crystal Palace.

Derry (pictured) was outstanding against his former club, breaking up attacks and linking play with simple, but effective distribution in what was arguably his best display for the club.

“I've said it before about him," Warnock said. "I signed Derry from Leeds United three years ago [for Crystal Palace] and remember saying to [owner] Simon Jordan: 'Let me take Derry for two years. He'll keep us up this year, but then we'll get rid of him because his legs have gone.

“But he just keeps getting better and better.

“Clint Hill's the same. Before I had him, he's never had more than 10 games a season without injuries. The way he looks after himself, he's been an absolute credit.
