FORMER Arsenal and Cardiff City man Rhys Weston hopes his trial at AFC Wimbledon can put him in the shop window.
The 32-year-old is training with the Dons after spells in Iceland and Malaysia, and featured in Saturday's pre-season friendly draw at Dartford.
Kingsmeadow chief Neal Ardley has refused to rule out offering a deal to the versatile defender, although he is still keen to run with just the three centre-backs already on the books.
But Weston hopes his time in KT1 will put him back on the radar after his time abroad.
He said: “I've been away for a while and am keen to play in England again.
“There's no obligation on the club's part. I know Ards from Cardiff and he's been kind enough to let me come down and train to get fit.
“You never know what can happen in football, but as it stands the budget's tight.
“When you drop off the radar after a while it's difficult. I want to prove I can still play at this standard and hopefully put myself in the shop window.
“If nothing happens here hopefully it will be a stepping stone to getting something elsewhere.”
