MARTIN Taylor admits his days at Sheffield Wednesday appear numbered.

The 33-year-old hasn't featured at all for the Owls this season and has played just 13 times in total since his switch from Watford in 2012.

Taylor was given the green light to join Brentford on a month's loan this week, despite a defensive shortage at the Championship club.

And the former Birmingham defender, who is in the final year of his contract at Hillsborough, admits his prospects look bleak following a chat with Owls boss Dave Jones.

He said: “I spoke to the manager there and it didn't look like I was going to get an opportunity.

“He wanted to look at other things. I don't think it's going to happen for me there this season but things could change.

“It didn't work out the way I wanted for whatever reason.

“It was disappointing not to feature, but this is a good opportunity for me to go out and get some game time at a team who's challenging at the top of League One.”

Taylor is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Tranmere Rovers.
