PIM Balkestein has been told he has no future at Brentford.

The Dutch defender spent the first half of the season on loan at League One rivals Rochdale, but is back in TW8 after having his loan spell at Spotland cut short.

Balkestein, who still has 18 months left on his contract, is way down the pecking order at Griffin Park , and is deemed surplus to requirements by the Bees.

Boss Uwe Rosler said: “I have spoken to the player and his agent, and informed them both of the situation.

“At the moment, Pim's considering his options and we're waiting for feedback about his plans.”

Balkestein has had a disappointing spell in west London since his permanent move to the club in 2010.

The centre-back impressed during two loan spells from Ipswich Town, leading to Andy Scott handing him a three-year deal at Griffin Park.

Balkestein made 27 appearances last season, but has failed to feature under new boss Rosler.
