MARCEL Eger is set to leave Brentford this summer after reaching agreement to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The centre-back made just 22 appearances for the Bees since his switch from St Pauli last year, but hasn't featured since suffering an ankle injury in January.

Eger still has 12 months to run on his deal at Griffin Park , but the Chronicle understand the club have verbally agreed to cancel the 29-year-old's contract in TW8.

The German helped Brentford to an impressive 11 clean sheets in 22 games, but fell behind loanee Harlee Dean , Karleigh Osborne and Leon Legge in the pecking order.

And with Dean having made the permanent switch to the Bees, Eger's time in west London looks up.
