SHALEUM Logan is eight games away from triggering a one-year contract extension at Brentford.

The former Manchester City defender penned a 12-month deal with an option when he made the switch to Griffin Park in the summer.

The Chronicle can reveal the 23-year-old will activate the clause in his contract for a further year once he reaches 27 games for the Bees.

Logan, who missed two months of the season with an ankle injury, has made 19 appearances in all competitions, but is likely to miss Saturday's trip to former club Scunthorpe with a hamstring problem.

However, the Manchester-born right-back is hopeful of hitting the total and extending his time in TW8.

He said: “It's been difficult [to reach the total] because I missed 13 or 14 games through injury, but I want to stay here and play next season.

“I may miss another week or two through injury, so maybe those games will not come. Then it's up to the manager to decided whether he gives me a contract.

“I'm really settled in London and hopeful something will happen. There's nothing better than playing a game on a Saturday after training all week.”
