FRANKIE Merrifield’s Hayes & Yeading future should be resolved in the next 48 hours.

Merrifield has been training with United this summer following his release from League Two side AFC Wimbledon

He has played in several of the club’s recent friendly fixtures, including’s Saturday’s 2-1 win at Arlesey Town to complete the pre-season campaign.

But with this weekend’s Conference South opener at Bromley just days away, United boss Phil Babb is yet to tie down the midfielder.

Babb is keen to hold onto the former Dons starlet but wants to make sure the details of any potential deal are suitable for both parties.

The Gazette understands a decision will be made on Merrifield in the next 48 hours or sooner.

Merrifield made six appearances for Wimbledon last season and scored in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Southend.

But he failed to feature for Neal Ardley’s side after November and was shipped out on-loan to Harrow Borough in the Ryman Premier.

His contract with Wimbledon was cancelled by mutual consent at the start of the month and the midfielder has been looking for a new club since.
