ON-LOAN Graeme Montgomery is determined to make up for lost time after helping Hayes & Yeading secure their first win since his arrival.

The 22-year-old (pictured), who started his career at Wealdstone, has been restricted to just three games due to the big freeze since joining Garry Haylock's men last month.

But he played a pivotal role in Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Eastbourne Borough, a crucial victory that ended Hayes & Yeading's six-match losing streak.

"Two of the matches since I have been here have been postponed and that has been disappointing," Montgomery said. "But hopefully I can do well in the games that I still have here. We will see how it goes after that as I will have to see what is happening for me at Dagenham.

"But I just have to concentrate on playing the games and getting my match fitness up. They play good football here, but results have not gone our way since I have been here.

"Tonight we got a good win though and hopefully we can get a few more wins in the next few weeks."

Midfielder Montgomery has been restricted to just three first-team appearances this season for the League One side this season and with his two-and-a-half year contract due to expire next summer, it is a crucial time in his career.

"It has been frustrating for me not being in the squad so it is nice to come here and play regular football. I am working hard and I am still young so hopefully I can make it work back at Dagenham.”
