Rob Gilmour took the honours in the Hounslow & District Wheelers Midsummer 25 on Sunday.

Gilmour managed to get the better of a strong field - and even stronger winds - to race home in 1:0.52 hours.

Just under three minutes behind him, in second, was Rob Richardson, while David George, who is making excellent progress this season, was third.

First handicap prize went to Andy Gilles in fourth, and Neil Holdsworth and David Brown followed him in before the top female finisher, Jo Wells, came in seventh.

Not racing was Paul Holdsworth, who was having rotten luck elsewhere.

He punctured a wheel in the Sharrow 50, having suffered the same misfortune in the Burton & District CA 100 the week before.

However, despite losing nearly 15 minutes in the 100-miler, Holdsworth still managed to finish within the four-hour margin.

Meanwhile, this Sunday, Hounslow & District Wheelers will hold a special 75-mile run to mark the club's 75th anniversary.

Lunch will be at Bramshill, with tea at Staines Sailing Club after.
