Kenton Road Club's Dave Gayler hit good form in Sunday's 35-mile event on the Dunton Car Test circuit near Brentwood in Essex.

Despite a full field of vets forcing the pace, and with many attacks, the field stayed together for the finish, where Dave was well placed with a third on the line.

Kenton's Sunday club run took in the Hertfordshire lanes in the Potters Bar, Essendon and Hatfield areas.

Those out included John Markham, Dave Thurtle, Gino Goddard, and peter Sarwan, who all returned to Harrow after 40 pleasant miles in the Springtime sunshine. [25a0] West London cyclists will be saddened to hear that Ian Poole, a one time member of the now defunct Uxbridge Wheelers, passed away at home last week after a long battle against cancer.

Ian was always a friendly regular on West London training rides from the Target Chain Gang of the 1960s and 70s to more recently the Denham Nursery sessions.

He was a good friend and supporter of the Kenton RC and occasionally rode in Kenton events.

He leaves a wife Daphne, a son Marcus, and a daughter Lesley.
