ZAK Brown and Tom Dobbin ensured Southall FC U10s were crowned London Futsal champions and gave their coach his proudest moment in football.

Their goals gave Southall a 2-0 win over Club Futsal in the final, with Barnet FC’s academy team defeated 4-1 on penalties in the semi-final after a 2-2 draw, Abdi Mohammed scoring twice while Rhys Atkins saved two in the shoot-out.

The boys played five games to reach the semis of the all-day event at SportsHouse in Dagenham, against sides from all over London and further afield.

Clubs were allowed 12-man squads, with the five-a-side games lasting 15 minutes.

Coach Emanuel Asare said: “There have been many many proud moments in my playing and managerial career, and today’s performance is right up there.

“It caps a wonderful tournament season for these boys, who won tournaments at Marlow FC, Sun Postal FC and Parkfield FC, and were runners-up in Chinnor FC and Wycombe Wanderers FC.

“To be crowned London Futsal champions is certainly a massive achievement, and to overcome a professional academy in the semi-final was amazing and brought tears to my eyes.

“On the day all the players contributed marvellously, showing true desire and skill to overcome some very useful teams.”

Elsewhere, Southall’s first team beat fellow Spartan South Midlands League Division One side London Tigers 3-2 on Saturday to make a winning start to their pre-season. Joseph Aqua, Luis Fernandes and Jameal were the men on target.
