Osterley 220 all out Edmonton 221-5 Osterley lost by five wickets

OSTERLEY held a crisis meeting in the wake of a second defeat in the first six league games at the hands of high-flying Edmonton on Saturday.

The reigning champions were guilty of over confidence, according to skipper Asad Rizvi, as they threw away a start of 90-1 with a succession of reckless shots to finish well beaten.

Rizvi says resolve is needed soon if they are to keep hold of their title.

He said: "Everyone had their say in the meeting and we realise the honeymoon period from winning the title last year is over now.

"We got over confident after a good start and ended up getting bowled out far too quickly and leaving them more than 60 overs to make the runs.

"We need to show more application if we are to get back in the title race."

Manoj Brasenga (68) and Abid Amit (62) gave Osterley the perfect platform for a big score, but no one stayed long enough to capitalise on the foundation they had laid.

And with their opponents needing less than four an over to win, the bowlers were powerless to stop the team second in the table from coasting home with time to spare.

Indian Gymkhana 163 all out Glaxo 95 all out Indian Gymkhana won by 68 runs A STUNNING all-round performance from Subhash Chaudhary saw Indian Gymkhana stay top of the table on Saturday with a 68-run win at Glaxo.

Gymkhana's overseas professional top scored with the bat and then turned destroyer with the ball to blitz the hosts for under 100.

Chaudhary also held his side's batting effort together, making 47 out of a total of 163. He and Kunal Patel then bowled in tandem to bamboozle the Glaxo batting lineup, Chaudhary finishing with five wickets and his team-mate four.

Gymkhana will hope the pair are in equally devastating form when they play host to Edmonton in the top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

OLD ISLEWORTHIANS skipper Mike Peries played a princely innings in the shadow of Windsor Castle on Sunday.

Peries was in majestic form, hitting 94 as the visitors made short work of chasing down 185 against Egham Roses.

He found a staunch ally in Keylan Usman (41), the pair putting on 97 for the first wicket. Sadly, Peries was bowled six short of a well-0deserved 100, but Dan Hirst's 37 not out saw his side home by eight wickets with 10 overs to spare. Earlier, Nigel Clemmy (1-24) and Jamie Brunton (1-21) helped restrict Roses to 184-4 on a slow pitch.

The first team had been without a game on Saturday, but the seconds enjoyed a 152-run win over Battersea Ironsides.

Hirst (69) and Rob McLaren (60) starred as Old I's posted 284-6, before Usman routed Battersea for 132, returning figures of 5-22.
