TONY Craig wants to hit the ground running after making his return from injury in last night's Capital One Cup victory against Dagenham.

The Brentford defender suffered a grade one hamstring tear during pre-season, which ruled him out of Saturday's draw at Port Vale.

But the former Millwall man was back in action as a second-half substitute as the Bees edged out the Daggers at Griffin Park.

And Craig is champing at the bit ahead of the visit of Sheffield United after coming through his first 45 minutes of the campaign without any ill effects.

“I felt very good,” he said. “It was a successful night for me on a personal note as I managed to come through it unscathed.

“I pulled my hamstring in training a few weeks ago. It took a little bit longer than expected as it was the first time I had done it and we didn't know how I would recovery.

“Thankfully it wasn't serious and now I can get my season started.”
