Just 20 days remain until the party gets started in Glasgow for the start of the Commonwealth Games so we’re taking a look at the kit Team England hope they will be wearing on the top step of the podium.

We’ve put together a gallery so you can see what west London athletes, including Hounslow’s Mo Farah and Rajiv Ouseph and Hillingdon’s Julia Bleasdale, will be donning come the big day on July 23.

They are just three of more than 600 English athletes who will be wearing the red, white and maroon-coloured clothing made by sportswear company Kukri at the Games in Scotland as they compete in 17 sports across 11 days of competition.

Athletes were consulted in the design of the kit and wanted a lion to feature heavily and believe the animal symbolises the strength, pride, commitment and courage of the team as they bid for medals.

“The kit that Kukri and Arena have produced embodies what we represent as a team and I am very proud that the athletes have been at the heart of the design of this kit,” said Team England Chef de Mission Jan Paterson.

“From selection of Kukri, to the scope of what kit was in their bag to the design itself, our athletes have led the way.

"We may be 17 sports, but we are united as a single spirit and our Team England kit is a true representation of that.”

Swimmer Andrew Willis, gymnast Reiss Beckford, sprint hurdler Louise Wood and triple jumper Nadia Williams were all at the launch in May.
