MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

Harrow Town CC 248 all out (50 overs)

Brentham CC 173-8 (50 overs)

Match drawn

BRENTHAM managed to stave off defeat on Saturday, but only took a point against a Harrow Town team in the bottom two, as their promotion ambitions were badly dented.

The Meadvale Road club are down to seventh in the table, 22 points off second placed Brondesbury.

Even Matt Lowen could not inspire Brentham to the win they needed, although he removed both openers and finished with figures of 5-80 from 18.4 overs. Team-mate Jaisreet Bajwa took 4-54, but Harrow Town’s tail wagged and two players reached their half century.

Ashwin Kapoor top scored with 45, but Luke Budden’s undefeated 29 later in the innings was all about saving the day rather than mounting a run chase.

Mid-table Harrow St Mary’s are the visitors tomorrow (Saturday).

Half centuries from Imran Hamidon (54) and Daniel Saggers (50) gave the second team their second win of the summer, at the expense of visiting Wembley.

Brentham closed on 233-8 from 55 overs and bowled out their bottom of the table opponents for 162 in 40 overs.

The result sees them move out of the bottom two in Division Two of the second XI championship, leapfrogging Harrow.

Brentham’s winless third teamers lost by six wickets to Twickenham.
