ANDRE Villas-Boas says Chelsea and Gary Cahill are still 'miles apart' in agreeing personal terms, but that he expected the parties to resolve the current impasse.

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has already revealed that both clubs have agreed for the 26-year-old England central defender.

"We are still miles apart regarding agreement with the player, " the Chelsea manager said in today's press conference at the Cobham training ground.

"We will continue to monitor this situation, but we are continuing to monitor the other targets that we have outlined - although I think it should be no problem."

Villas-Boas said of the Bolton defender: "I think his technical attributes are immense and his pace is fantastic as well.

"There are weaknesses and they are also related to the collective organisation of Bolton.

"He's a player who at international level has been playing magnificently well. He can add to this squad or any squad in the Premier League."
