GARY CAHILL and David Luiz have both been ruled out of Chelsea’s clash with Newcastle United tomorrow night.

The duo are both sidelined with hamstring injuries and will miss the visit of the Magpies, however they did train together at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham this morning.

Interim boss Roberto Di Matteo is hopeful the pair may be ready for the FA Cup final clash with Liverpool on Saturday but admits they will need to be checked before then.

“Unfortunately Cahill and Luiz are still out for us,” said Di Matteo.

“We’ll need to check them on a daily basis. For tomorrow it’s too early, then we’ll see on Thursday and Friday.

“They’re progressing well I think, but it’s impossible for me to give a date for their comeback. Hopefully they will be ready before [the Champions League final] and I have hope but we don’t know yet.”

With Cahill and Luiz in the treatment room, Di Matteo is delighted to welcome back Branislav Ivanovic to the Blues defence following his suspension.

He added: “We have Ivanovic back from suspension and the other players did well on Sunday, so we’ve got a few options."
