BLUES interim boss Roberto Di Matteo insists his squad are in good spirits ahead of their vital clash with Newcastle United tomorrow night.

Chelsea have been in a fine run of form lately reaching the finals of the Champions League and FA Cup as well as being involved in a fight for that all important fourth spot.

The Blues are full of confidence at the moment and will prove a tough test for the Magpies, who currently sit a point above them in fifth place.

However, Di Matteo knows the challenge facing his side and will not underestimate a United outfit that have exceeded expectations this term.

He said: “I think they Newcastle have a very good squad and they’ve got some very good individual players, and they have a lot of goalscorers in their team. They’ve done very well this season.

“There’s a good spirit at the moment in the dressing room and that’s connected to the positive results we’ve been getting lately.

“There is not much time between the games and it’s challenging but it’s also exciting because we have lots to play for and it’s better to be like this than not have any targets.

“Results are good so we are pleased with that. The players have been really working hard to get those results and we have to continue that because ultimately we have not achieved anything so far.”

David Luiz and Gary Cahill are still missing for Chelsea but the duo could return for the FA Cup final at the weekend.

However, Branislav Ivanovic returns from suspension to face Newcastle and is likely to partner John Terry in defence.
