BRENTFORD striker Charlie MacDonald is set to miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

The former Southend United frontman damaged ligaments and suffered a minor fracture in the home defeat against Brighton earlier this month, leaving him wearing a protective boot.

And the club have now confirmed last season's leading scorer is expected to be sidelined until the end of the campaign following surgery.

Boss Nicky Forster now has until Thursday's transfer deadline to decide whether to bring in any reinforcements on loan.
