BRITISH Best All Rounder champion Nick Bowdler overcame bike problems to win the Hounslow & District Wheelers 100 Mile Time Trial on Sunday.

The Farnborough & Camberley CC cyclist suffered a broken chain and faulty bottle cage, which led to him shipping two water bottles enroute.

But he still managed to win by almost 10 minutes in 3:42.23 hours in his first long distance event of the year.

Hounslow's own Paul Holdsworth was third in 3:52.46, behind VC St Raphael's Aran Stanton, but ahead of last year's winner, Echelon-Spiuk's Paul Dring.

It was a brave effort by Stanton, who had just come off a night shift at work.

Ladies winner Lou Collins, of TFN Tri Club, also put in a notable effort, clocking 4:23.04 in her first effort at the distance.
