Amersham 157 all out

Harefield 159-8 Harefield won by two wickets

CAPTAIN Fantastic Akshay Reddy's 75 not out helped Harefield to victory in the final over to end Amersham's unbeaten run.

With a draw on the cards, Reddy and Matt Lench led the hosts home with two wickets to spare.

Amersham were put in to bat, and they got off to a disastrous start with four wickets falling for 50 runs.

Skipper Luke Jackson (48), Abhay Mayer (36) and Rich Stephenson (14) gave them some respite, but their tail fell cheaply.

Doug King did the damage for Harefield, taking 5-38 as the visitors were skittled out for 157.

In reply, the home side got off to an even worse start, and they found themselves at 58-5, with Richard McLeod (20) and James Hammerton (14) the only notable scorers.

However, Reddy started chalking up the runs, and along with Peter Lynch (14) they ate into Amersham's lead. Tom Dixon did his best to disrupt their rhythm, taking 5-54, as the sides went into the final over neck and neck.

But Reddy and Lench (16) got Harefield over the line as the heavens opened.
