GARY Cahill has spoken of his complete disbelief at bring part of the Chelsea side that has lifted the Champions League trophy.

The centre-half was transferred from Bolton in January - a move which saw his fortunes switch from relegation to European champions.

He said: “If you'd told me at the start of the season I'd be playing in the Champions League final and winning the medal I thought you were absolutely mad. But it's really happened.”

Cahill started for Blues due to the red card and suspension picked up by captain John Terry in the semi-final against Barcelona.

Cahill said: “Yes I felt pressure because obviously my skipper wasn't there and I felt a little bit of pressure to perform. Especially because of the size of the game and what it meant to the club, obviously playing in the Champions league next season.

“However much you want to try and play it down in your head to keep you relaxed you knew it was massive, massive game. So it was important that we went out there and did our best.”
