WEALDSTONE FC have appointed their former player and team manager Dennis Byatt to the key role of commercial manager to the club.

Byatt was a highly popular member of the hugely successful double winning Stones side of the 1980s, and made a total of 369 appearances between 1981 and 1990 as a combative centre half.

He later went on to manage the team during the most difficult period in the club's recent history between 1992 and 1993.

Stones chairman Howard Krais said: "We are delighted to welcome back Dennis to take on this crucial job at the club.

"It is imperative we succeed in bringing in far more commercial income and sponsorship, and also to make a real impact with the local business community.

"Dennis understands this requirement and is eager to get stuck into this job. He will bring a great deal of sales and football knowledge to the role."

Krais added: "We are serious about making the commercial side of Wealdstone a success, and we are very confident Dennis is the right person to take this role on and deliver.

"He has some excellent contacts, but we realise that he will also need the support of all of our fans to follow up leads and ideas. As always at Wealdstone we all need to work together to ensure that we maximise every opportunity to sell the club at our new home."

Dennis Byatt said: "It is great to be back at Wealdstone and I am very excited about the opportunity to help the Club back to where it was when I was playing - at the top of nonleague football."

Byatt will be based at Stones' new Grosvenor Vale home, dividing his working week between football club activity and promoting Ruislip Manor Sports and Social Club.
