ROB Thomas looks set to up sticks from his Feltham home and cross the Channel to France after being released by the London Broncos.

The 21 year old prop was one of three players, along with Jason Golden and Lamont Bryan, to be told by the club last week that their contracts would not be renewed.

Thomas has since had an approach from London Skolars, where he spent time on loan last season, but has also had an exciting offer from an unnamed top flight side in France.

He said: “I've got a few offers and I'm just looking over them. Skolars is one of them, and I had a good time there last season, but I've also been approached by a top division side in the south of France about playing out there.

“It will obviously take a bit of time to think about, uprooting my life to move to another country, but it's an exciting thought, and my girlfriends has said she is willing to move out there with me.”

Thomas, who had been with the Broncos youth set-up since the age of 13 and also played for Hounslow amateur side West London Sharks, first broke through to the first team in 2011.

However, he failed to follow his former Feltham Community College pals Jamie O'Callaghan and Olsi Krasniqi in establishing himself as a Broncos first-teamer, and had to make to with reserve team rugby this year.

But he holds no bitterness towards the Broncos, or to new head coach Tony Rea who released him, and hopes they go on to achieve some success under the returning Aussie.

Thomas added: “Having made a few first team appearances the year before, I was expecting to get more game time this year, but it didn't work out that way.

“But I've still got some good friends there and I hope they go on to win some silverware under Tony, who is a good coach and a top bloke.

“He's got the boys enjoying their rugby again and they work hard for him, and I think they will do really well next season.”

Broncos this week announced that another of their youngsters, speedy winger Omari Caro, will be moving north to join fellow Super League side Hull Kingston Rovers.

Caro will be another west London lad moving away from their roots to further his career, but Thomas backed him to be a hit in rugby league's heartland.

He added: “Omari will do well up there. He's a top lad and put in some impressive displays for the first team this year.”
