ROB Powell believes new recruit Phil Bailey can help bring some exciting new signings himself to London Broncos.

The former Australian international and Wigan Warriors player was brought in last week with a brief for helping with player recruitment.

And Broncos head coach Powell (pictured) believes it is a department the club have been lacking in since for some time now.

He said: “I have been developing a relationship with Phil for some time now, and now he has got his Visa issues sorted, we are delighted to have him on board.

“He has a wealth of contacts and experience both over here and in Australia, and has the ear of a network of agents all over the world.

“Most clubs operate with a football manager who deal with recruitment, and we have probably not had one since Tony Rea stopped coaching and helped Brian McDermott.

“The last person we had, Don Fenton, was more of a logistics manager, and he left last year. We needed someone with a more specific role for recruitment.

“I am excited about working with Phil and about the potential for the sort of players he can help bring here.”

Powell was not smiling on Sunday, however, as Broncos' 24-6 defeat at Wakefield, coupled with Widnes' shock win over Huddersfield, saw his side slip to the bottom of the Super League.
