MIDDLESEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION TWO

Brentham 99 all out

North Middlesex 101-3

North Middlesex won by seven wickets

A MISERABLE batting display left Brentham with nowhere to hide as they were defeated on Saturday.

Evan Flowers, unbeaten on 70, made light work of the North Middlesex chase in just 15 overs after Brentham struggled to make an impression.

Tom Brandreth (24) top scored for Brentham, with four players out soon after reaching double figures.

Brentham were all out in 43.2 overs and slip further off the pace in the promotion race after their third loss of the season.

They now have 16 points to make up on North Middlesex, who moved up to second behind Brondesbury.

The Meadvale Road men will aim to bounce back with a win at second-bottom Harrow Town tomorrow (Saturday).

It was a happier day for the second XI, who achieved their first win of the season to move off the bottom of the table.

They posted 229 all out in 54 overs at home to Hornsey.

It would have been more but for outstanding bowling from Bhasker Patel (6-70), but it was still good enough for a 46-run victory.

Peter McLaughlin took 5-58 as the visitors fell away to 183 all out in 45.1 overs. Ravi Patel (47) and opener Tanmay Desai (44) were Brentham’s top batsmen.

Brentham’s third team lost by 123 runs to Wembley and stay rooted to the bottom of Division Two in the third team championship on two points.

Usman Ali top scored with 70, but the Ealing side were all out for 171 in 39.3 overs in reply to Wembley’s 294-6 declared from 50.
