FARID El Alagui is set for a lengthly spell on the sidelines after picking up a serious knee injury in Brentford's victory over Crawley at the weekend.

The Moroccan striker was stretchered off with his leg heavily strapped after a collision with keeper Paul Jones in the late stages of the game at Griffin Park.

El Alagui was sent for a scan yesterday to determine the full extent of the damage.

And the club have confirmed the former Falkirk frontman will be missing for the foreseeable future.

Brentford Head of Medical Neil Greig told the official website: “Farid suffered a significant injury to his left knee.

“He will now commence a lengthly period of rehabilitation with the long-term aim of returning to full fitness.”
