CLAYTON Donaldson just needs a goal to go in off any part of his body – and then they will start flowing for the Brentford striker.

So says Bees coach Alan Kernaghan, after Donaldson once again failed to score in Brentford's 2-0 win over Exeter City on Tuesday night.

Donaldson, who netted 28 goals for Crewe last season, has only found the net five times since joining the Bees last summer – a tally almost matched by Saido Berahino in just five games.

Kernaghan said: “Clayton just needs a goal to go in off his backside or anywhere at the moment, but we have every confidence that it will happen, and when it does, he will go on and score a load more. You don't score as many goals as he did last season without being a good striker.

“We feel we have got three good forwards here, and we could have picked any combination for the game, but we felt Saido Berahino would give us something different – which he did.”
