BRENTFORD boss Uwe Rosler admits he would be willing to let winger Sam Wood leave on loan.

The Bees star has been restricted to just four starts this season, and has failed to even make the bench in recent weeks.

Brentford blocked two loan moves from a pair of League Two clubs earlier this season as Rosler needed the 25-year-old as cover.

However, the Bees chief has now given the green light for the former player of the year to leave Griffin Park to get some game time under his belt.

But Rosler has made it plain Wood is part of his plans and can stay in TW8 and fight for his place.

He said: “We had some enquiries for Sam in September and October, but that was at a time when we were short on numbers in certain positions.

“I gave him permission to go out on loan after that but the clubs who had shown an interest had decided to go in another direction.

“I didn't have space for him on the bench at the weekend because I felt Manny (Emmanuel Oyeleke) could provide cover up front and in midfield.

“Sam's a valuable member of our squad, has played games before and will again. But if there's an offer and he wants to go I will let him.

“However, I will also be happy if he decides to stay here and fight for his spot.”
