BRENTFORD'S winless streak at home continued as they slumped to defeat against Stevenage.

Chris Beardsley's second-half strike proved the difference to inflict the hosts' fourth defeat in six games at Griffin Park .

The Bees had the better of the early stages, but they failed to test former QPR keeper Chris Day.

Clayton Donaldson was unfortunate to see his effort blocked by Ronnie Henry after bursting through the Borough backline, while at the other end, Karleigh Osborne's last-ditch tackle denied Craig Reid a shooting chance.

The Bees had a penalty appeal waved away when Donaldson went down under the challenge of Jon Ashton, while the striker saw a long-range effort drift wide minutes later.

Niall McGinn fired agonisingly over the top after the break, while Richard Lee got down low to deny former Bee John Mousinho.

However, the Bees were made to pay for failing to keep possession midway through the first-half.

McGinn gave the ball away cheaply, and when it eventually found its way to Beardsley, the Stevenage striker smashed the ball across Lee into the left-hand corner.

Boss Uwe Rosler threw on Mike Grella late on as they pushed for an equaliser, but they couldn't find it as the visitors held on for the points.

BEES: Lee, Logan, Osborne (Eger 27), Llera, Woodman (Adams 60), Douglas, Diagouraga, Bean, Weston (Grella 75), Donaldson, McGinn.

Subs (not used): Moore, Saunders.
