JAMES Wilson has been given the green light to play in Brentford’s FA Cup tie at Gateshead on Saturday.

The on-loan defender has been cleared by parent club Bristol City to be cup-tied for the season.

His presence will be a huge boost for the Bees as fellow centre-backs Mark Phillips and Alan Bennett are both struggling with injury.

Bennett has been sidelined for the last two weeks with an ankle niggle, while Phillips limped off at half-time of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Exeter.

Bees boss Andy Scott revealed Phillips had been playing with an injury he didn’t even know about.

He said: "Mark is a whole-hearted player who wants to play in every game, but it didn’t do us any favours that we didn’t know about his injury."
