ANDY Scott insists his hands are not being tied over transfers - despite delays to his war chest being finalised for next season.

Brentford’s budget will not be clear until Matthew Benham’s proposed takeover of the club goes ahead, which is believed to be coming to a head.

Fears had arisen that this would affect Bees manager Scott’s ability to get a head start on putting his new squad together for the League One challenge.

But Scott revealed he could have completed some signings already if he wished, and hopes to have some in the bag, if not completed, before he flies out to the USA for a two-week break tomorrow.

He said: "I’ve never been worried about it. I could have signed some players by now if I wanted, but the time hasn’t been right yet.

"It’s certainly not holding me up. I know where I am with everything. The board has given me license to sign players if I want, and some talks are in advances stages.

"All the feedback I’ve had from talks with players has been positive, and I should be getting some answers back by the end of the week.

"Although they’re not signed and sealed, I hope to get a few more agreed so only the loose ends need tying up when I get back my holiday."

Scott is also feeling positive about his five existing players he has offered new contracts to - Alan Bennett, Mark Phillips, Kevin O’Connor, David Hunt and Simon Brown.

He said: "You can never be 100 per cent confident as you don’t know what they’ve been offered elsewhere, and ours might not be their best offer.

"But I’m pretty confident three or four of the five will be staying, and I’d like to think the others will too."
