ANDY Scott insists he's got other irons in the fire in case he fails to bring Jordan Rhodes back to Brentford.

The Ipswich Town striker returned to Griffin Park in last night's friendly between the sides, and gave gaffer Roy Keane plenty of food for thought with a well-taken goal in the 3-1 victory.

Rhodes told the Chronicle last week he has his sights set on the Tractor Boys first team, but Bees boss Scott is waiting in the wings if the 19-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements at Portman Road.

However, Scott insists he's got other players on his radar if a move for the man who scored sevens goals in 14 games for the Bees last season doesn't happen.

He said: "I spoke to Roy before the game, and I think that's the first time he's seen Jordan play.

"I'd love to have him back here, but he knows he has to impress Roy and see what happens at Ipswich.

"If he does what he did here he would impress anyone. He's a good player, a fantastic kid and I hope it goes really well for him.

"I have other players on my target list if I can't get Jordan. It could be a loan or permanent [signing] depending on who's available.

"It's got to be the best player for this football club at the right time. We can't afford to bring in anyone who's not right for the group or the way we play."

With Charlie MacDonald crocked for the first few months of the season, Scott is desperately short of firepower, with Ben Strevens, Nathan Elder and rookie Moses Ademola his only recognised forwards.

But the Brentford supremo could turn to summer signing Myles Weston, who starred in a striking role against Ipswich.

Scott said: "His movement was excellent. He's got good feet and can get down the side.

"He played up front as a young kid at Charlton, and it was something we bought him for."
