ANDY Scott hailed Brentford captain Kevin O'Connor after he made his 400 th appearance for the club at Swindon on Saturday.

The Bees utility man in his 11 th season at Griffin Park , having made his debut against Wycombe in 2000.

And his boss insists O'Connor is a great example for his team-mates.

He said: "It is a magnificent achievement and he deserves all the plaudits.

"He has done it with a great respect from the fans and the club alike. Anyone he plays against knows he does it the right way.

"Kevin's a fantastic professional who never gets involved in any shenanigans. He is a great lad to have around and he is one who can inspire younger lads and show them what they can do.

"He’s typified everything I wanted to bring and do at this football club and he is a major part of what we want to do. Just by his actions, he sets a terrific example of the type of player I want.

"He is a major part of what we have achieved as a club."
