Luqmaan ‘Prince’ Patel is aiming to maintain his 100 per cent record when he takes on Hugarian David Koos in his third professional fight on October 30.

The Hounslow boxer has changed his coaching team, bringing in Mervyn Turner to head up the operation, and has been stepping up against Jason Booth in sparring.

And he feels he has improved as a fighter over the past few months since his previous fight against Brett Fidoe.

He said: “Training is going great. I’ve changed my training team. I’ve got a new coach in Mervyn Turner, who is a boxing manager and promoter. I’ve got a strength and conditioning coach. I’m able to jump higher, I can lift heavier weights.

“Sparring has gone great as I’ve been up against four weight Commonwealth champion and two weight European and British champion Jason Booth, which is experience you can’t buy.”

Four time super middleweight champion Carl Froch has also been watching Patel and the Cobra told him he believes he can go all the way.

Patel added: “Carl Froch had a butchers at the sparring and he was very impressed. He just told me he reckons I can go all the way and become a world champion. I look up to winners, and Carl is a winner.”

Koos, 19, who replaced Gary Reeve as his opponent, has a 4-0 record in professional bouts, and while Patel believes he can triumph, he is not going to take him lightly.

The flyweight added: “I’ll treat [any fighter] like a world champion because they can end your dream.

“I’ve got to make sure I’m in shape to win. One shot can change it so it’s important to be 100 per cent focused.”

Patel has cited his family as one of his biggest influences and believes he wouldn’t have got to where he is without the support of them and his sponsors the Leander group, Ever Ready and Pink Hippo Self Storage.
