It’s a tough world when all you get is a clip round the ear trying to dish one out.
Hence, the reason three young west London boxers were grateful for grants to spur them on to greater things this week.
The bursaries provide by Powerday on Old Oak Common will go towards kit, travel and anything else that might produce future west London ABA champions.
Patrice Mughalzai and Nathan Brown do their thing at the Hooks club in Park Royal under the tutelage of coach Stevie Newland after a great 2014.
Both harness high hopes of national schools success, with Brown already a NABC (boys clubs) finalist.
Caroline Dubois, 13, was forced to leave Dale in North Kensington because she could find no other females in this neck of the woods to spar with.
Now with Islington BC, she plans to be a future Nicola Adams and win Olympic gold.
Groves wished them all the best of luck.
“You are all very talented that’s why you are here,” he said. “Believe me you are no different to me; if you stick at something you will reach your goal.
"These Powerday bursaries and the O’Neillls kit should spur you on to working your hardest in the gym. Listen to your trainers and make sure you make the most of your boxing talent.”
