WEST Ealing Bowls Club enjoyed a perfect week by seeing off allcomers to show once again they are a force in the region.

It began with a Friday night win for the men against Hounslow Conservatives in the fifth round of the Middlesex Double Fours.

The home rink of Colin Harman,

Kevin Simms, Martin Barrett and Paul Cater (skip) won 25-18, and the away rink of Rob Ryan, John Carey, Ken Hodgson and Nick Skidmore (skip) was victorious by 30-11. They play Featherstone BC in the next round.

The next day, the same two rinks were again in action, this time in the Bowls England Double Fours at local rivals Brentham BC.

West Ealing prevailed again, with Skidmore's rink winning 19-14 and Cater's 23-12. The next round is at Masonians BC on June 27.

On Sunday, the men beat Rosedale BC 51-50 in a Middlesex League thriller, coming away with seven points.

The rink of Ken McCarthy, Tony Bond, Kevin Cochrane and Cater (skip) drew 14-14, while Ryan, Ian Streames, Robin Innes and John Carey won 21-15. The third rink of

Harman, Rob Green, Bond and Simms (skip) lost 16-21, but Simms' drawing shot with his final wood clinched overall victory.

Later, there was an 88-72 away mixed-friendly win against Iver Heath BC. One rink drew 19-19, one lost 16-23 but there were two winning rinks of 21-13 and 32-17.

The 15-shot win by Ray Allen, Steve Higgs, Sue Butcher and Innes (skip) carried the day.
