MILL Bowls Club maintained the pressure on its rivals in both the Bidgood and Chiltern & Thames Leagues with two wins out of two recently, writes Liam Osborne.

First up was Northwood in the Bidgood Championship, with David Garside, Dennis Stanbury and Tony Jones getting the ball rolling with a victory in rink one to secure a 36-27 triumph overall.

The win was repeated in their next clash against Eastcote. Betty Stanbury, Kevin Worboys and Len Barrows comfortably won their rink 20-11 on their way to helping the team take maximum points with a 55-46 scoreline.

The pressure was off in their friendly match against Yiewsley, and it showed, with Martin Feuer, Pauline Puttock and Paul Darius thrashing the opposition in rink two to help set up a comfortable 95-69 victory.

The club has also secured friendly wins over clubs at Rickmansworth and Harrow Weald recently.

They won three of four rinks for a 78-47 crushing of Ricky, 18-14 (Corrisande Mason, Syd Perrin, Len Barrows), 29-4 (Bill Seabridge, John

Hornibrook, Tony Jones) and 17-12 (Eddit Toms, Ron Burch, Dennis Stanbury).

Win Barrows, Mike Hulbert and Martyn West lost the third rink.

Mill edged out Harrow Weald 71-61 with winning rinks for Seabridge, Pauline Puttock and Stanbury (19-16), Barrows, G Gibson and Len Barrows (25-15), and Berry Stanbury, John Puttock and West (21-12).

The team of Mason, Mike Hilbert and Jones lost the first rink 6-18.

Mill could not make it a clean sweep of wins as they lost 58-61 to Watford, drawing two of the four rinks (18-18, 14-14).
