Young and old got into the swing of things at West Harrow Bowling Club’s recent open day.

The club, based at West Harrow Recreation Ground in Shaftesbury Avenue, opened its doors to potential new members on Sunday 4 May.

Almost 50 players, male and female, tried their hand at the sport as West Harrow declared the event a ‘complete success’.

There were mini bowls for the children, tombola in the park and expert tuition and advice from the coaches and members of the club.

New bowlers are welcome at West Harrow on Friday evenings at 6pm and Sunday 11 mornings from 10am.

Meanwhile, Harlington Bowls Club just lost out in a thriller of a Chiltern & Thames league clash at near neighbours Cowley on Saturday.

The visitors lost out by just two shots overall after winning won and losing two of the rinks in this triples clash.

Harlington’s successful rink comprised J Fulbrook, S Cutmore and D Maylin who won 24-9.

The club is looking to recruit new members over the summer and participants only need a pair of flat shoes or trainers to get started as all other equipment is available for use and coaching can be provided.
