BRENTFORD'S new development programme will get Ryan Blake's career back on track, according to Ose Aibangee.

The young defender has failed to make an appearance for the first team since joining the professional ranks last summer.

However, the Northern Irish international has been offered a new one-year deal with the U21 side for next season.

And head of youth development Aibangee reckons the programme will be perfect for players like Blake to make the step up to the first team.

He said: "If players aren't playing then some of their development will be hindered.

"Ryan didn't play a lot of games last year, and players in that age group will go backwards because they are not doing the right kind of training to keep them developing.

"First team training is maintenance training and geared towards matches. Ryan was on the fringes last year but hopefully this programme will get him back on track."
